What should you consider when choosing a backup solution?

RTO – recovery time objective.
RPO – recovery point objective.
Security – keep data on-site and replicate off site too ( fire/flood/ransomware )
Use immutable storage 
Keep on-site repositories on separate networks.
Security of the data when backed up and stored – encrypt it
Security of the provider and provider’s data centre (ISO27001 etc)
DR Testing – regular tests to ensure it works when needed.
Monitoring – check the control panel and send email alerts.
Do you want to backup Microsoft 365 too? – it permanently deletes data from the recycle after 90 days once deleted by default.
Retention period – How long do you need to keep the data, and how many file versions would you like kept?

To backup SharePoint, all users that have permission to use it must be selected on backup.
To backup just Email and OneDrive, you may select individual users.
If making selections, we then cannot use “auto add” of any new site, user or mailbox.
Exchange Data is retained for SEVEN years.
OneDrive and SharePoint Data is retained for SEVEN years.

Single Server, 1yr retention, 2 file versions – Up to 500GB – £ 60.00 per server, per month
Single Server, 1yr retention, 2 file versions – Up to 1TB– – £ 80.00 per server, per month
Single Server, 1yr retention, 2 file versions – Up to 2TB– – £ 120.00 per server, per month
Additional Storage – £ 0.04 per GB, per month

This backup writes to the UK N-Able Cloud and to a local storage device on your network (NAS or USB)
Local storage is optional.  But, will accelerate recovery in a complete disaster.

To enable full local replication—such as a powered-off VM being replicated live, along with replication to Weald’s HQ to a non-running VM—this is achievable through a more sophisticated offering from Veeam. For more details, please visit our dedicated Veeam page here.

Disaster Recovery Testing – Optional Add-On

Enhance your resilience with automatic DR testing. Each month, your server is bare-metal restored to a virtual machine, which is then powered on to verify functionality. A screenshot of the running server is emailed to you, along with logs confirming service startup.

This service is available as an add-on for £10 per server, per month.
